Letter to my Daughter: Driving

Dear Daughter,

This is Letter #1 from your father. You'll be zipping around in a car in no time and I wanted to set some ground rules and things you can expect from your parents.

1. On your 16th birthday, we will put up 50% of the money for your car, provided it's gently-used Honda, Toyota or Volvo.

2. We will pay insurance. You pay gas.

3. You cannot drive with more than two friends in your car. (Accident statistics show most teenage car accidents involve alcohol and when there are more than two passengers in the car.)

4. Always look over your shoulder from changing lanes. (Every car has a blindspot).

That's it. Now I just need to run these by your Mommy. But hey, since you're only three, I still have 13 years to tweak these rules.

Love, your Daddy.
